The Andrija Kačić Miošić Square is located in the very centre of the town, in the vicinity of the harbour of Makarska, and you can recognize it by the statue of Andrija Kačić Miošić at its centre. If you are wondering why he deserves a statue, you should know that he wrote the most read book after the Bible in Dalmatia. Since 1756, when it was printed in Venice, 64 editions of this book were printed, and its title is "Razgovor ugodni naroda slovinskoga" (Pleasant conversation of Slavic people).

• The bronze statue of friar Andrija Kačić Miošić was made by the famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Rendić.
• The Square is adorned by a Venetian 18th century drinking fountain, where you can refresh yourself with water from the Biokovo mountain. It is known for the coat of arms, which is used as a symbol of Makarska nowadays.
• The Church of St. Mark is located at the top of the Kačić Square. It was built in the Baroque style. The construction began in 1700 and took place in several stages.
• The Baroque mansion of the Ivanišević family on the small square nearby the Kačić Square is worth visiting, as it is the most beautiful monument of civil architecture in the town.
• Two monuments in the centre of the town Makarska have a great story: one was erected to honour a bather (it is located in front of the Town Museum), and the other is dedicated to the local Casanova Jure and a female tourist (it is located on the seafront walk).
