More details

  • Get to know Raša, a town that serves as a monument to industrial heritage, built in just 547 days, 5 km from the artistic town of Labin.
  • Visit Gustav Pulitzer Finali Square, named after the architect from Trieste who designed the layout of the entire town and see the fountain and St Barbara's church.
  • St Barbara's church is an elegant and minimalist edifice. Built in the form of an overturned minecart with a bell tower reminiscent of a miner's lamp, it also features a museum dedicated to miners. The church was also designed by architect Pulitzer and is home to a unique mining collection.
  • Walk the 4.4 kilometre St Barbara (Sveta Barbara) trail (Labin – Kapelica – Raša) that passes by the mine at Karlota, the stone quarry and the mine shaft entrance near Raša – above the mine entrance you will see the miner's greeting Sretno! (Good Luck!).
  • Descend to the preserved mining plant in Raša, where coal was last extracted in 1966.
  • Discover the prehistoric tumuli (from the Bronze Age) atop the Bobrine elevation, about 2.5 km to the northwest of Skitača hill. The largest of the tumuli stands about 3 m above the surrounding terrain with a diameter of about 20 m, while the 3 lesser tumuli are about 1 m high and about 4 wide.
  • Tour the nearby rural settlements, where you will find many Baroque period churches. In the village of Brovinje you will find a Gothic church dedicated to the beheading of St John the Baptist, built of dressed stone in the 14th century with 15th century frescoes. The small church in the Prodol woods dedicated to St Matthew dates back to the same period, while in Skitača you will find the church of St Lucy with its unfinished bell tower. You can also visit the church of St Lawrence in Sveti Lovreč Labinski, the church of St Augustine in Barbići, the church of St Sebastian in Škoroni (on the way to Sveta Marina) and the church of St John in the Fields (Sveti Ivan u Polju) on the road from Labin to Koromačno.
