- The first town to welcome you on the island of Krk is Omišalj, where we invite you to visit the 12th century Parish Church of the Assumption. If you love exploring, head 2km south of Omišalj in search of the ruins of a 5th century early Christian basilica and the mysterious Roman town of Fulfinum.
- In Porat, 3km from Malinska, you will find a monastery of the Third Order of St. Francis with a church built in 1480 dedicated to Mary Magdalene. Hermits once lived here, but today only 2 monks inhabit the monastery.
- The town of Krk is a true treasury of the history of Krk’s dukes. You can learn all about their rich tradition in the region at the Frankopan Castle, in the very centre of town.
- If you like unusual architecture, head 5km south of Krk and find one of the most significant monuments of old Croatian architecture – the 12th century Church of St. Donatus. Learn all about how it was damaged in 1945 due to an unusual explosion…
- Interested in learning more about the Baška tablet, the oldest Croatian written monument in the Glagolitic alphabet? Find the Church of St. Lucia in Jurandvor near Baška, where a replica of it is now kept.
- We’ve got a great suggestion for a mix of recreation and culture – a walk along the Baška Glagolitic Trail, which runs from the Baška valley all the way to the old seafront Stara riva in Baška. Along the trail, you will find 35 Glagolitic stone letters placed alongside the region’s significant natural and cultural points.
- Imagine looking through an atlas printed in 1718! Visit the 1898 Vitezić family library in Vrbnik and see it up close, along with pictures of old sailing ships, weapons, medals and constellations.
- Leave the isle of Košljun as the cherry on top. Its numerous treasures have been guarded by the monks on the islet for more than 1,000 years. You can reach Košljun from Punat by boat.
