Quick Info
Route difficulty: easy
Length of route: 26km
From the centre of Cavtat, head uphill along the winding road towards Zvekovica. Stop by the Church of St. George, and then turn right at the crossing and set off on a mild climb towards Gabrila, where you will be treated to a wonderful view of Konavle field.
At the crossing, turn right and head downhill towards Konavle field. The route leads you on along an asphalt road through a picturesque landscape full of natural sounds and scents to another crossing, where you turn right and head downhill towards the village of Miljasi. In Miljasi, turn right at the crossing and continue along the road through the field towards Čilipi. At the next crossing, turn left towards Čilipi. Before entering the centre of Čilipi, cross the main road carefully and you'll find yourself on the main square, where we recommend you take a short break. Continue through Čilipi along Bistroće Street, and turn left at both of the two crossings you encounter. You will then continue through the picturesque landscape along roads lined with dry stone walls through the villages of Donja Banda. At the next crossing, turn right towards Cavtat. On this part of the route, take in the endemic plant life and the fascinating stone crosses. Turn right at the next crossing towards the Chapel of St. Mary, and then turn left towards Diklići and Pendovo selo. In Diklići, don’t miss the temple of the ancient god Mithra. After sightseeing, turn right at the crossing, then turn left onto the path through the field which will lead you to Pendovo selo. Once you reach the village, turn left at the crossing and continue towards a plateau that offers a fantastic view of the sea, Cavtat and Dubrovnik. From here, you will begin a steep descent towards the main road (be careful!), after which you will turn left and continue your descent towards Cavtat along the same route you took out of the centre of town.

- Before the village of Miljasi, visit the gallery of Croatian painter Miho Šiša.
- In Čilipi, peek into the Church of St. Nicholas, which was built in 1853 in place of an older, 15th century church. On Sundays at 11:15AM, you can enjoy a folklore presentation of Konavle’s traditions and dances (from April to October) or visit the Konavle Regional Museum.
- Do you know how the dry stone walls you will meet along the way were built? By hand and without mortar!
- Along the way, you’ll come across a series of stone crosses that pilgrims once visited during the traditional blessing of the fields, the oldest of which date from 1762.
- In the village of Diklići, visit the temple of the ancient god Mithra, who was worshipped in the region from the 2nd to the 4th century. A carving depicts Mithra facing east as he kills a bull.
- In Cavtat, visit the birth house of Vlaho Bukovac, one of the most famous Croatian painters, and make sure to check out the nearby Sokol tower, which will take your breath away.
